By introducing an eco-friendly biomolecule, Potassium aspartic acid (PAA) onto ZnO electron transport layer, this work reported a self assembled biomolecule interlayer towards enhanced efficiency and stability in inverted organic solar cells. PAA was found that can tune the energy alignments, passivate oxygen vacancy defects, and promote the π-π stacking of the active layer, leading to enhanced photovoltaic performance and operational stabilities upon continuous operation as well as UV-light irradiation.
